MSDSonline's Plan1: the 411 for Your 911

"Many facility owners and operators rely on local resources for emergency preparedness and response, including first responders, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials response teams. It is important for facility owners and operators and their communities to foster strong relationships with one another and maintain a robust, open dialogue to help ensure chemical safety and security."

Sharing is Preparing

Many people and companies don't like thinking about worst-case scenarios; however, when you're a firefighter, paramedic, police officer, nurse, doctor, or part of any emergency response team, preparation and readiness are essential to protecting your community and to ensuring your team makes it home safely at the end of their shift.

As an emergency responder, how much safer would your job be if all of the businesses in your community shared their hazardous chemical information with you before you needed it? Wouldn’t be great if you had 24/7 access to the most up-to-date company-specific chemical inventory lists, safety data sheets, facility floor plans with chemical container maps, and indexed product summaries? What would it mean to you to know you had the equipment and training needed to handle any chemical event in your community, even before the alarm sounded?

Plan1 First Responder Share Service

Introducing Plan1, a cloud-based chemical information sharing service that allows MSDSonline HQ and HQ RegXR customers to share critical hazardous product information, including inventory lists, floor plans, MSDSs, and more with you, their first responder community.

As a first responder, accessing this potentially lifesaving information is easy. Once an MSDSonline customer elects to share with you, you’ll receive an email with Plan1 log-in instructions that you can use to retrieve the shared information anytime from any device with an Internet connection — for free. It’s that easy! Ask the businesses with chemicals in your community if they are MSDSonline customers, and if they are, tell them you'd like to set up your Plan1 connection.

Chemicals

As a first responder, you have to be prepared for every kind of chemical emergency. Where employees can concern themselves with just those chemicals in their facility, you have to prepare for every chemical in every facility in your community, which could include thousands upon thousands of substances and mixtures. Just a few of the HazMat categories emergency personnel need to prepare for include:

  • Explosives
  • Gases Under Pressure
  • Flammable Liquids/Gases
  • Flammable Solids
  • Oxidizers
  • Corrosives

And for those employees who come in frequent contact with hazardous chemicals, additional hazards can include short- and long-term health effects like:

  • Acute Toxicity
  • Carcinogenicity
  • Germ Cell Mutagenicity

Three Year Customer, North Texas Hospital

      Louisiana Based Healthcare System

“The versatility and ease of use makes this a very strong product.”
      Dave Chapman, Brooks Health System

“I used to manually 'try' to keep up with the new MSDS updates but that was a never ending task. As a matter of fact, I could have spent my entire 40 hr work week on it and probably still not have my MSDS's up to par. What a wonderful service you offer. No more sheet protectors, messed up indexes, no more messed up manual altogether (employees or public) removing them and not putting them back in the proper order (or not putting them back at all). The list goes on. I could go on and on. To make a long story short, 40 hrs per week to maybe 5 minutes a week on MSDS's."
Valerie Centi, Fulton County Medical Center
