May 16, 2013

President Obama has selected Anthony Foxx to be his Secretary of Transportation. Foxx, the mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, was lauded by Obama during the announcement for his investment in transportation during his time as mayor.

Obama used the occasion to praise outgoing secretary LaHood, who he said helped build “more than 350,000 miles of road -- enough to circle the world more than 14 times… upgrade more than 6,000 miles of rail -– enough to go coast to coast and back…[and repair or replace] more than 20,000 bridges.”

During the announcement, much was made of the relationships Foxx is expected to build with mayors and governors and other elected officials get buy in for projects at the ground level.

According to the, Foxx said “There is no such thing as a Democratic or Republican road, bridge, port, air field or rail system. We must work together across party lines to enhance this nation's infrastructure."

His nomination was welcomed by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, the American Public Transportation Association and the outgoing Transportation Secretary. If Foxx’s nomination is confirmed, he will become the 17th Secretary of Transportation.

“Flexible, convenient, easy to use and explain to the employees. Great time saver over the old paper system that had.  I am very happy with the experience; from building the file to the roll out to the employees.”
