Chicago (July 27, 2015) — MSDSonline, the leading provider of cloud-based environmental, health and safety (EHS) solutions, will answer questions and address concerns that laboratory managers and chemical safety officers still have about how OSHA’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS) deadlines affect the Laboratory standard at the NAOSMM Annual Conference and Trade Show. Chuck Haling, MSDSonline vice president of sales and one of the industry’s top GHS experts, was invited by NAOSMM members to speak at the annual event held in Long Beach, California.
The presentation comes just weeks after OSHA published a new Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom) enforcement directive, which provides clarity on OSHA’s interpretation of its revised HazCom Standard. In 2012, OSHA aligned its HazCom Standard with GHS, a model hazard communication system developed by the United Nations, setting off a series of phased compliance deadlines and creating new requirements for the millions of hazardous chemical manufacturers, distributors and end-users (or employers) covered by the standard. The presentation, GHS: 2 Deadlines Hit in 2015. Are You Ready?, provides an engaging review of HazCom, the GHS changes, and the impact on a lab’s hazard communication program. The presentation will be held on Thursday, July 30 from 8:30-9:15 a.m. PDT in the Queen’s Salon.
“With two deadlines occurring just this year – and in a span of just six months – material managers cannot afford to ignore GHS and its effects on both OSHA’s HazCom and Laboratory standard,” said Haling. “Our presentation offers actionable steps laboratory professions can take now to embrace these changes to ensure their facilities remain safe and compliant.”
