As was covered in MSDSonline's Safety Counts January Newsletter, March 1 is the deadline for companies covered by EPCRA Sections 311 and 312 to submit Tier II (or Tier I) hazardous chemical inventory reports to local emergency planning committees (LEPCs), state emergency response commissions (SERCs) and local fire departments.
If your facility used or stored hazardous chemicals that required MSDSs per OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard at any time during 2012, and those chemicals were present in quantities equal to or exceeding EPA's EPCRA Section 312 reporting thresholds, then your facility must report.
EPA updates its Tier2 Submit software annually, so if you're in one of the many states that accepts electronic Tier II reporting through Tier2 Submit, be sure to download the latest version for the 2012 reporting year.
For more information about Tier II reporting requirements, visit the EPA's website.
