OSHA announced that it will be hosting a series of teleconferences for small businesses to provide feedback on the OSHA proposal to add a check box for musculoskeletal disorder to injury and illness logs. This action follows a series of events that had OSHA announcing such a column would be part of injury and illness logs for 2012, then withdrawing the rule after critical feedback from small businesses and Congress over the move.
According to the announcement, the first teleconference is scheduled for April 11, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. EDT, with the second and third events following on April 12, 2011 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Specifically, OSHA is looking for small businesses to provide “input about their experiences in recording work-related MSDs and how they believe the proposed rule would impact them.”
If you wish to participate, contact Regina Powers at [email protected] by April 4 with the date and time of the teleconference in which they wish to participate. You can also contact Robert Burt, director of OSHA's Office of Regulatory Analysis, at 202-693-1952 or Bruce Lundegren, assistant chief counsel for SBA Advocacy, at 202-205-6144 for more information.
