Used on an MSDS, a lower case m can mean a few different things.
1. m = Mouse. A mouse was used in the
toxicity testing.
2. m = Molality. A unit of concentration. This m is usually italicized, except in a plain text document.
3. m = Meter. A unit of distance in the metric system.
