Rundman III, OSHA’s Directorate of Enforcement Programs for the Office of Health Enforcement, announced that OSHA is considering a petition from the American Coatings Association (ACA), cosigned by 8 other associations, seeking temporary relief from the June 1, 2015 HazCom / GHS compliance deadline for the updating of labels and safety data sheets.

Day.” During this special month, safety professionals can join FEMA in encouraging families, communities, and businesses to review preparedness planning protocols, and to make sure that people know exactly what to do during emergencies. FEMA articulates their official National Preparedness Goal as “A secure and resilient nation with the capabilities required across the whole community to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to and recover from the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk.”

  • Health Canada Releases Proposed Hazardous Products Regulations in Canada Gazette Part 1

    WHMIS stands for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and is Canada’s national hazard communication standard
    According to an Aug 9, 2014 email from Health Canada, the agency is seeking “written comments from all interested parties on this proposal to repeal and replace the Controlled Products Regulations, and make consequential amendments to related regulations, to implement the GHS in Canada.”

  • GHS Adoption in Canada Clears another Hurdle Toward a Major WHMIS Revision

    Supporters of Canada’s adoption of GHS had reason to celebrate this week as an important piece of legislation, Bill C-31, was given Royal Assent. According to an announcement by Health Canada, Bill C-31 gives Canada’s Minister of Health the authority to “to publish proposed changes to the Controlled Products Regulations, to be renamed the Hazardous Products Regulations, in the Canada Gazette, Part I.”
